What is CareCredit?
CareCredit is a health and wellness credit card that enables patients to pay for care over time using promotional financing for purchases of $200 or more.
Accessing and Setting Up CareCredit Integration
Navigate to your Live Location, Settings, Initial Setup, Integrations, CareCredit.
If you are NOT yet a CareCredit provider, click Sign Up with CareCredit to apply. Once approved, enter the provided Merchant ID.
If you already have a Merchant ID, enter it in the Merchant ID field and save configuration.
Once enabled, the CareCredit button appears inside the patient profile.
CareCredit Features in ChiroHD
1. Lookup Account
Use the “Look up account” option in a patient profile to look for existing CareCredit accounts.
Choose a search method and enter patient information.
Select the matching account from the results.
This links ChiroHD to the patient’s CareCredit account for transactions and refunds.
Recent transactions are also viewable here.
2. Apply for CareCredit
Two methods to Apply for CareCredit:
Provider Center or your Practice Management Software
Office staff complete the application on behalf of the patient.
Gather all the necessary information to fill out the application and proceed to the next screens.
Reminder: Do not hand over your device as this may expose sensitive data. If the patient exits the screen, they may accidentally view patient information, which could result in a HIPPA violation.
Another Device
Text the patient a secure application link to fill out independently and they will see the process like shown below.
Tip: CareCredit shares that patients are more likely to complete the application on their own device, where they can enter personal information privately.
Application Status
After submission, application statuses can be Approved, Denied, or In Process.
3. Run Transactions
Things to know before running a transaction:
Confirm the patient has an existing account.
Confirm with the patient the amount they would like to apply to their CareCredit card.
CareCredit purchases must be $200 or greater.
Ways to Run a Transaction:
Submit a Purchase Transaction In Office for the Patient
Enter necessary details, select promotional financing, and submit.Submit a Purchase Transaction Over the Phone
This option will only be available if tele services are enabled on your Provider account.
Send Purchase Transaction to the Patient's Device
Send the patient a secure link. Patients complete approval on their own device.
NOTE: Patients must complete the self-service approval process within seven days of sending the link.Receipt: If using this method, no paper receipt required; approval is recorded in their CareCredit account and is noted in ChiroHD as "payment-care credit" or you can copy the purchase link into an email or send it directly by text.

4. Process Refund
Click Process refund.
Enter the card number, continue, and select the transaction to refund.
Review details and submit.
Best Practices and Tips
Self Service Purchase Links
When sending a self-service purchase link, patients without CareCredit will be prompted to apply first.
Electronic Receipts
For offices preferring paperless workflows, use the self-service approval process—it stores authorization securely online.
Correct Workflow
Always process CareCredit payments through the dedicated CareCredit button in the patient profile. Avoid using the standard courtesy transaction window or the new transaction button for these payments.
Non-CareCredit Payments
Non-CareCredit payments should continue to use the regular transaction process.
