Welcome to the Twilio integration process! This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to successfully set up Twilio for your business, ensuring compliance with regulations and smooth messaging operations.


Why Twilio Integration is Important

Twilio is our texting provider, enabling you to send messages through ChiroHD. However, phone carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile have filtering mechanisms that may block unregistered business numbers. To prevent this, businesses must complete an A2P (Application-to-Person) registration. This registration informs carriers that your number is legitimate and should not be marked as spam.

Failure to complete the A2P registration will result in the inability to send texts.

Step 1: Setting Up Your Twilio Number

  1. Log into Your ChiroHD Account.

  2. Navigate to your live location > Settings > Initial Setup > Integrations > Twilio.

  3. If you see a message indicating that billing needs to be set up, contact your Onboarding Specialist to link your Stripe account.

  4. Once billing is initiated, return to Twilio integration and proceed.

  5. Click Find Number and Area Code to search for an available business texting number.

    • If your preferred area code isn't available, we recommend checking back at different times of the day, as availability may change. Please note that phone numbers are provided by Twilio, and ChiroHD does not have control over this process.

  6. Select and purchase a number.

Step 2: Completing the A2P Registration

  1. After purchasing your Twilio number, click the A2P Registration button.

  2. Fill out your business details exactly as registered with the IRS, including:

    • Business Name

    • Tax ID Number

    • Address

  3. Any mismatch between your IRS-registered details and the entered details will result in a denial, delaying the process.

  4. Submit the registration and allow time for approval by Twilio (may take weeks).

Step 3: Understanding Twilio Fees

  • A2P Registration Fee: $45 (one-time)

  • Monthly Twilio Fee: $10 per texting line

  • Per Text Cost: $0.125 per message

  • These charges are passed through from Twilio without any markup and appear on your ChiroHD invoice.

Step 4: Managing Your Twilio Account

Once your A2P submission is approved:

  • Your Twilio number will be locked in and should not be released without consulting ChiroHD support.

  • Incoming calls to the Twilio number will receive an automated message.

    • You can customize this message in Settings > Twilio Integration.

    • Suggested message: “This number is for text messages only. Please call our office at [your main office number].”

Step 5: Viewing Your Invoice and Texting Usage

  1. Log into ChiroHD.

  2. Click on your name (top-right corner) > Subscription.

  3. Locate your invoices and click View/Pay Invoice > View Invoice Payment Details.

  4. Your invoice will show:

    • Quantity of texts sent

    • Per-message rate

    • Total texting cost

    • Monthly Twilio fee ($10)

    • One-time A2P registration fee ($45)

Important Reminders

  • A2P registration is mandatory due to government regulations.

  • Ensure IRS-registered details are accurate when submitting your A2P application.

  • If your A2P submission is denied, you must resubmit—delays may impact your ability to text.

  • Once Twilio is set up, you can start sending texts within ChiroHD.
