How to Set Up Printer Configurations in the Insurance V2 Dashboard

Updated over 11 months ago

Overview

Printer configurations in the Insurance V2 Dashboard allow you to control how claims print on a standard CMS-1500 (HIPAA/HICFA) form.
This ensures that all fields align correctly and appear properly inside the designated boxes when printed.

While ChiroHD’s standard configuration works for most printers, some offices may need custom adjustments due to the wide variety of printers available.

Note: If you are using the Insurance V1 Dashboard, please refer to the Insurance V1 Printer Configuration guide.

Accessing Printer Configurations

  1. Go to InsuranceInsurance SettingsPrinter Configs.

When to Use a Printer Configuration

  • If your claim fields do not align properly on the printed HICFA form.

  • If the printed text is offset to the left, right, top, or bottom.

  • If the scale of the printed claim is too small or too large.

In these cases, you will need to create and apply a custom printer configuration.

Creating a New Printer Configuration

  1. Click Add New Printer Config.

  2. Name the configuration clearly (e.g., "Front Desk Printer," "Ellen’s Printer").

  3. Adjust the following settings:

    • Left Margin: Moves text left or right.

    • Top Margin: Moves text up or down.

    • Scale: Zooms the printed content in or out (use increments like 0.5 for small changes).

  4. Click Submit to save the configuration.

Tip: It may require a few trial-and-error print tests to find the perfect settings for your specific printer.

How to Use Your Printer Configuration When Printing Claims

Once you have a printer configuration saved:

  1. Go to InsuranceCreate Claims.

  2. Create your claim as normal.

  3. Click Print to HICFA.

  4. Select your saved Printer Configuration from the dropdown list:

    • Standard uses ChiroHD’s default settings.

    • Your custom configurations will appear below standard.

  5. Print the claim onto a blank white paper that you load with your pre-printed HICFA forms.

Important Reminders

  • Standard Configuration fits most printers, but custom configurations allow fine-tuning if needed.

  • You must select the correct printer configuration each time you print a claim if you have multiple printers.

  • Scaling adjustments should be small changes (e.g., 0.5) to avoid large misalignments.

  • Trial and error may be necessary. Always print a sample claim first before finalizing.

Summary

Setting up a custom printer configuration in ChiroHD ensures that your claims print neatly and professionally on HICFA forms.
It enhances claim accuracy, minimizes rejections due to formatting, and keeps your insurance workflows efficient.
