How to Create a Claim in the Insurance V2 Dashboard

Introduction

The Insurance V2 Dashboard in ChiroHD provides a more intuitive and streamlined experience for creating and managing insurance claims.


Accessing the Create Claim Tab

  • Navigate to your Live Location < Insurance Tab to take you to your Insurance Dashboard < Create Claim.

    Important:
    When you open Create Claims, it automatically pulls claims that are pending to be billed (those in purple “unbilled” status on the ledger).


Filtering on Create Claim Tab

At the top of the screen, you can filter by:

  • Claim Type (Standard Electronic, Standard Paper, etc)

    • The claim type is determined in the settings of each Third Party Payer.

  • Responsible Payer (Primary vs Secondary)

  • Charges Date Range (defaults to the past 12 months. These default settings can be changed by going to user preferences


Key Differences from the Old Dashboard

  • Automatic Validation:
    You no longer have to manually click "Validate."
    Claims are automatically validated and sorted into "Ready to Bill" or "Needs Attention" based on validation results.

  • Immediate Green Sheet Checks:
    You can instantly see claims that failed validation by checking the "Fail Validation" column.

  • Batch Billing:
    You can batch multiple patients at once, or select individually by expanding their cards to review services included.


Claim Details Section

When reviewing the claim before billing, you can see:

  • Total Amount to be Billed

  • Patients Included (count)

  • Dates of Service

  • Posting Dates

  • Memo Field (optional notes)

  • Resubmission Codes / Original Reference Number (if rebilling)

You can expand a patient card to see service line details before finalizing.


How to Create and Send a Claim

Once you have validated and reviewed your claims:

  1. Click Create Claim.

  2. You will be given these options:

    • Send to Clearing House:
      Directly send the claim electronically to Office Ally or Trizetto (only available if your SFTP credentials are set up).

    • Download Claim Document:
      Save the electronic file to your computer and manually upload it to your clearinghouse.

    • Preview on HCFA:
      View your claim formatted on a mock CMS-1500 form to validate accuracy (recommended!).

    • Print to HCFA:
      Print the claim onto an actual HCFA form to physically mail if needed.

  3. You can also delete the bill if you made an error and need to start over.
