Bill History Tab in ChiroHD

Updated over 11 months ago

The Bill History tab in ChiroHD provides a chronological record of all insurance claims submitted for a specific patient. It displays individual and batch-submitted claims, including billing method, date created, and submission details. This feature is essential for verifying claim status, auditing billing activity, and managing insurance communication.

Accessing the Bill History Tab

To view a patient’s bill history:

  1. Open the Patient Profile.

  2. Navigate to Transactions.

  3. Select the Bill History tab.

All claims that include the patient—whether individually billed or submitted as part of a batch—will appear in this section.

Understanding the Bill History Interface

Each claim is displayed as a card, summarizing key billing metadata:

  • Bill Creation Date (top left of each card)

  • Submission Method (e.g., Paper, Office Ally, or Standard Electronic)

  • Date Range of Services Included

  • Memo Field (optional, typically used for internal notes)

Note: The bill creation date shown on the card is not the date of service—it is the date the claim was generated. Specific service dates are available within the expanded view.

Viewing Claim Details

To inspect the content of a claim:

  1. Click on a bill card to expand its details.

  2. Within the expanded view, you can:

    • View Paper Claim

    • View Office Ally File

    • View Digital File

    • Send to Clearinghouse

    • Mark for Rebill

    • Delete Bill

    • Print Preview to generate a preview of the claim layout

This allows staff to confirm what services were included in a claim, verify claim formatting, or trigger re-submission when needed.

Batch Billing and Patient Visibility

If a patient was included in a batch submission, their bill history will reflect this. In such cases:

  • The patient’s name will appear alongside other patients who were submitted together.

  • The claim card will still be accessible from the individual patient’s Bill History tab.

  • This ensures full visibility, regardless of how the claim was created.

Example: If Patient A was part of a batch claim on March 1, that claim—and all its associated services—will show in Patient A’s Bill History, even if it includes services for other patients.

Expanded Claim View

Clicking into a bill card provides full details for each service billed within the claim:

  • Service Status

  • Posting Date

  • Third-Party Payer

  • CPT Code

  • Service Name

  • Billed Amount

This detailed view is essential for validating what was included in a claim and for cross-referencing insurance responses or EOBs.
