Patient Mode SOAP Note Screen

Allow patients to check in at the adjusting area using their date of birth — opening either their SOAP note or Patient Chart depending on the mode selected.

📝 Overview

Both Patient Mode and Patient Mode (Legacy) allow patients to check in at the adjusting area by entering their date of birth. The difference is which screen opens after check-in.

  • Patient Mode (Legacy) — patient enters their DOB → opens the Provider Mode (Legacy) SOAP Note screen.

  • Patient Mode — patient enters their DOB → opens Patient Chart SOAP Note screen.

Purpose of Patient Mode

When using the new Patient Mode, the patient's Patient Chart opens after they enter their date of birth. This mode is ideal for practices that want patients to check in and pull up their chart rather than going directly into SOAP documentation.

Accessing Patient Mode

Both modes are found under the SOAP tab in the navigation bar.

  • You must be assigned the Provider role to see the SOAP tab.

  • Administrators will not see the SOAP tab unless they are also designated as a provider.

To access either mode:

  1. Click the SOAP tab in the main navigation bar.

  2. Select Patient Mode (Legacy) or Patient Mode from the dropdown.

  3. Position the device at the adjusting area for patients to use.

How Patient Mode Works

The check-in process is the same for both modes:

  1. The patient must first be marked as Arrived.

  2. The patient can enter their date of birth (MM/DD) on a device at the adjusting area.

  3. The system matches them to their arrived appointment for today and opens the corresponding screen automatically.

  4. If multiple patients share the same birth date, the system prioritizes the one with an arrived appointment for the current date.

  5. A HIPAA-compliant screen saver activates after the file loads. Tap or click anywhere to dismiss it.

Remember:

  • Patient Mode (Legacy) — patient enters their DOB → opens the Provider Mode (Legacy) SOAP Note screen.

  • Patient Mode — patient enters their DOB → opens Patient Chart SOAP Note screen.

FAQ

Can a patient log into Patient Mode Using their Phone number?

Due to patient security & HIPAA regulations, it is not possible for patients to sign in to the patient soap notes using only their phone number. The patient mode soap note screen allows access to the patient's medical file, therefore it requires a two step verification of first arriving their appointment via their phone number on the check-in device, and then their DOB to access the patient soap notes.

Can we customize how long until the screen saver shows from the doctors SOAP note screen?

The screen saver settings can be found when you log into your Live Location > click on your name at the top right hand corner of your screen > Preferences > scroll down to How Long Before It Shows. This is a per user settings, so everyone can have their own setting.

✅ Key Takeaways

  • Both modes use the same DOB check-in process — the difference is what opens after.

  • Patient Mode (Legacy) opens the Provider Mode SOAP note screen.

  • Patient Mode opens Patient Chart.

  • The patient must be marked as Arrived before DOB check-in will work.

  • Only users with the Provider role can access either mode.

  • A HIPAA screen saver activates automatically after the patient file loads.

📌 Conclusion

Patient Mode and Patient Mode (Legacy) give practices flexibility in how patients check in at the adjusting area. Use Patient Mode (Legacy) when providers need to go straight into SOAP documentation, or the new Patient Mode when the goal is pulling up the patient's chart on check-in.
