How To Add a Tip & Access a Report
Updated over 2 months ago

If your office offers services like massage where tipping is customary, you'll need to account for tips in ChiroHD. Follow the steps below to streamline this process:

  1. Pull up the patient's snapshot.

  2. Click on "New Transaction" to open the transaction modal.

  3. Click on the "Tip" button. This will add a line item as a charge on the patient's ledger.

    1. Pro Tip: In the description box labeled "Tip," you can customize the verbiage. For instance, you could specify the name of the provider receiving the tip.

  4. Under the Provider field, the system will automatically populate the provider whose calendar the appointment was scheduled on. You can modify this if necessary.

  5. Select the provider the tip is for from the Type dropdown menu.

  6. Enter the tip amount.

  7. Click on the "Payment" button to process the payment through your merchant service.

    1. Note: Even if you're not using an integrated merchant service, click the payment button to record the transaction on the patient's ledger. Ensure to manually process the payment in your merchant service platform.

    2. Pro Tip: You can enter a description for the payment by clicking into the description field labeled "Payment."

  8. Similar to step 4, the Provider field will auto-populate based on the appointment schedule. Adjust if you need to allocate the payment to a different provider.

  9. Specify the payment method in the Type field. If you're using an integrated merchant service, this field will auto-populate.

  10. Enter the payment amount.

  11. Submit.

To recap, processing a tip involves a two-step process: accounting for the payment and adding the tip to the ledger, similar to adding a charge for an adjustment.

Additionally, you can run a report to view all tips within a specific timeframe. Access this report by navigating to the desired location > Reporting > All Reports (Beta) > Tips.
Following these steps will help ensure accurate accounting for tips in ChiroHD.
