How to Enable and Use the SOAP Note Assignment Feature in ChiroHD
The SOAP Note Assignment feature in ChiroHD allows you to start a SOAP note in one adjusting area and assign it to another. This is helpful when a patient moves between rooms (with one appointment for the day), enabling multiple providers to contribute to the same SOAP note seamlessly.
When to Use SOAP Note Assignment
Ideal For: Single appointments where multiple providers need to add to the same SOAP note. For example:
An assistant starts a SOAP note in an exam room, documenting initial findings.
The SOAP note is then assigned to another room where a chiropractor continues the note during treatment.
Not Suitable For: Different appointment types, such as:
A massage appointment and a chiropractic appointment scheduled separately. These will generate separate SOAP notes tied to their respective appointments.
How to Enable SOAP Note Assignment
Log into ChiroHD.
Go to Settings > Office Configuration.
Find the option Enable SOAP Assignment and toggle it to On.
How to Use SOAP Note Assignment
Start the SOAP Note:
When a patient arrives, the first provider (e.g., an assistant) accesses the Doctor's SOAP Note screen.
Click on the patient and begin the SOAP note, entering details such as subjective findings or exam notes.
Assign the SOAP Note to Another Area:
Once the initial portion of the note is complete, click Submit and Assign.
Select the next adjusting area (e.g., "Room 2") where the patient will be seen.
The patient now appears in the arrival queue for the assigned area.
Continue the SOAP Note:
The next provider (e.g., the chiropractor) clicks on the patient in the arrival queue for their room.
They will see the portion of the SOAP note already completed.
Add findings, treatment details, or any additional information to the same note.
Finalize or Reassign the SOAP Note:
Once completed, the provider can either:
Save and assign the note to another area if needed.
Submit the note for finalization.
Key Considerations
SOAP notes are tied to appointments. If a patient has multiple appointments, each will generate a separate SOAP note.
This feature is only applicable for single appointments where multiple areas or providers contribute to the same SOAP note.
By enabling and using SOAP Note Assignment, your practice can ensure efficient documentation and smoother transitions between providers during a patient’s visit.
