đ Overview
The Claim Status dashboard shows the status updates that payers and clearinghouses send back after you submit a claim. You can see whether a claim was received, accepted, rejected, still in process, or finalized. From the same screen, you can mark claims as reviewed and flag the ones that need to be resubmitted.
Before You See Any Claims: Contact Your Clearinghouse
Claim Status only shows data once your clearinghouse starts sending it. Before you'll see any claims here, contact your clearinghouse and ask them to send your 277 (claim status) files to ChiroHD.
Contact your clearinghouse's support team.
Tell them you'd like 277 claim status files enabled for your account and pushed into ChiroHD.
Once they confirm it's set up, ChiroHD pulls the updates in automatically. You don't need to do anything else on your end.
Only claims submitted after the 277 setup is active will start returning status updates. Status updates can take a little time to appear as payers respond.
Accessing Claim Status
Navigate to your Live Location, Insurance Tab, Claim Status.
Filtering Your Claims
Use the filters panel on the left side of the screen to control which updates you see.
Date Range:
Filters by when the status update was received from the payer, not by when the claim was created. Use the quick presets (7d, 30d, 60d, 90d, This Mo, Last Mo) or enter a custom range.
âThird Party Payer:
Narrows the list to one insurance company.
âNeeds Review Only:
Shows only claims where ChiroHD wasn't fully confident it matched the update to the right patient (see Low-Confidence Patient Matches below). This toggle only appears when there are items to review.
âShow Acknowledged:
Acknowledged items are hidden by default. Turn this on to see your full history.
Reading the Status Summary Bar
At the top of the results, a color-coded bar shows how many claims fall into each status category for your selected date range.
â
Categories include Received, Accepted, Rejected, In Process, Finalized â Payment, and Finalized â Denied.
It works as a quick health check. A big number under Rejected means you have claims to fix.
â
Each category is clickable. Click one to filter the list to that status, and click it again to clear the filter.
Working in Bill View
By default, results are grouped by bill, and each row is one submitted claim. The columns are:
Bill Health: A quick-glance summary of where the claim stands.
All Clear (green): Everything looks good.
In Process (yellow): The payer is still working on it.
Needs Attention (orange): Something came back that you should look at.
Problem (red): There's likely an issue that needs action.
Bill #: The internal claim ID.
Payer(s): Who the claim was sent to.
Patients: How many patients are on the bill.
Total Billed: The dollar amount billed.
Posting Date: When the claim was created.
Last Updated: When the most recent status came back from the payer.
Click any column header to sort. For example, sort by Last Updated to find your most recent activity.
Reviewing Patient and Service Line Detail
Click anywhere on a bill row to expand it. You'll see one row per patient with their status and the actions available.
â
To go one level deeper, expand a patient row to see the service lines. Each line shows the CPT code, date of service, amount billed, and the status code returned for that line.
Acknowledging a Status
Once you've reviewed a patient's status and there's nothing left to do, click Acknowledge. The item disappears from your default view so you only see what still needs attention. You can bring it back at any time with the Show Acknowledged toggle.
â
To acknowledge several bills at once:
Check the boxes on the left side of each bill row you want to clear.
When the Acknowledge Selected Bills bar appears at the top of the table, click it.
Flagging a Claim for Rebill
If a claim came back and needs to be resubmitted, you can flag it without leaving this screen.
Expand the bill, then find the patient.
Click Flag for Rebill.
Review the confirmation, which lists exactly which service lines will be flagged.
Click Flag for Rebill to confirm.
The patient will show a Pending Rebill indicator. Those charges are now available to pull into a new claim from Create Claim.
Using the Flat Status View
When you click a status category in the summary bar (for example, Rejected), the table switches from bills to a flat list of every patient with that status across all your bills. This makes it easy to work through all your rejections or denials in one pass.
The columns are Status, Action, Patient, Payer, Amount, and Date. Click any header to sort.
Low-Confidence Patient Matches
When a payer sends a status update, ChiroHD matches it to a patient record. If ChiroHD is less than 70% confident in the match, a yellow warning triangle appears on that patient row. Check these manually to make sure the right patient is linked, or use Needs Review Only to see them all together.

Troubleshooting
Status Updates Not Coming In
Claim Status updates depend on your clearinghouse sending 277 response files. If nothing is showing up, confirm with your clearinghouse that 277 responses are enabled for your account. Once that's set up, ChiroHD pulls the updates in automatically.
â Key Takeaways
Claim Status gives you a real-time view of every submitted claim, grouped by bill, with patient and service line detail underneath.
The status summary bar at the top is a quick health check each time you log in. Click a category to focus on it.
You can Acknowledge reviewed items and Flag for Rebill right from this screen.
If you don't see the Claim Status tab, contact ChiroHD Support to have it enabled.
đ Conclusion
With Claim Status, you can see where every claim stands, catch rejections and denials quickly, and send corrected claims back out without leaving ChiroHD.
