π Overview
Find Patients by Birthdate is a patient-finding tool. It returns a list of patients whose birthdays fall within a date range you define β making it useful for birthday outreach, anniversary campaigns, or any communication you want to time around a patient's birthday. Like the other Find Patients reports, it does not contain financial data. Its purpose is simply to identify which patients have a birthday in the window you specify.
To access this report, go to Reporting > All Reports Beta, select a location, and click By Birthdate under the Find Patients section.
π How the Date Range Works
The date range on this report searches by birthday β not by year. When you enter a start and end date, ChiroHD looks for patients whose birthday (month and day) falls within that window, regardless of the year they were born.
Example: If you set the date range to January 1 β January 31, the report will return all patients with a birthday in January β whether they were born in 1975, 1990, or 2005.
This makes the report ideal for running monthly birthday lists. You do not need to account for the year when setting your dates.
Date field labels in the report:
Has birthday between β your start date
and β your end date
π½ Report Filters
Filter | What It Does |
Has birthday between / and | Sets the date range to search for patient birthdays within |
Patient Status | Filter results to a specific patient status (e.g., Active, Inactive) |
Export options: PDF and CSV
Tip: Running the report filtered to Active patients only is the most common approach for birthday outreach β it ensures you are not pulling patients who have been discharged or marked inactive.
π What the Report Shows
The output is a patient list β not a financial or clinical report. For each patient returned, the report shows identifying information so you can reach out to them. It does not show:
The patient's full birth year (the search is birthday-based, month and day only)
Financial information, charges, or balances
Appointment history
Clinical details
π‘ Common Use Cases
Monthly birthday outreach β Run the report at the beginning of each month filtered to that month's dates and Active patients to get your birthday list for the month
Birthday promotions β Identify patients with upcoming birthdays to send a special offer or discount
Appreciation campaigns β Use the list to send personalized birthday messages from the practice
β Common Questions
Does the date range filter by birth year? No. The report searches by birthday month and day only. A patient born on January 15, 1980 and a patient born on January 15, 2002 will both appear if you set a date range that includes January 15 β the year is not part of the filter.
Can I filter to only active patients? Yes β use the Patient Status filter to limit results to Active patients only. This is recommended for most outreach use cases to avoid including patients who are no longer active at your practice.
Can I see the patient's actual age or birth year? The report does not display birth year or calculated age in the output. It returns patient identifying information based on the birthday window you searched.
Can I run this for a full year to get all patients with birthdays? Yes. Setting the date range to January 1 through December 31 will return all patients with a birthday on file, filtered by whatever patient status you select. For large practices, exporting as a CSV will make the list easier to work with.
β Key Takeaways
Find Patients by Birthdate returns a patient list based on birthday month and day β birth year is not part of the filter.

Use the Patient Status filter to narrow results β filtering to Active patients is recommended for most outreach use cases.
The report is a patient-finding tool only β no financial, appointment, or clinical data is included.
PDF and CSV are both available β CSV is recommended for larger lists or when you need to sort or work with the data further.
This report is hidden when the interface is in no-PHI mode, as it contains patient-identifying information.
π Conclusion
Find Patients by Birthdate is a simple, focused tool for building birthday outreach lists. Set your date window, filter by patient status, and export your list. Because the search is based on birthday month and day only β not year β you can run the same date range year after year without any adjustments, making it easy to build this into a recurring monthly workflow.
