Transaction Presets allow clinics to quickly apply bundled services, inventory items, pricing, and write-offs to a transaction. This is helpful for promotions, standard visit types, insurance-specific service groups, and recurring care bundles.


What Are Transaction Presets?

Transaction presets are predefined bundles that may include:

  • Services

  • Inventory items

  • Pricing rules and write-offs

Examples they can be used for:

  • Promotions (e.g., Facebook ads)

  • Default treatment plans

  • Insurance-specific setups (e.g., Medicare)

  • SOAP note efficiency

  • Network-wide billing consistency

Example: "$21 New Patient Special" = 2 X-rays + Initial Consultation, with write-off reducing the price from $100 to $21.


Accessing Transaction Presets

  • Navigate to your System Dashboard, System Settings, Transaction Presets. Click Add New Transaction Preset.


Transaction Presets Settings

  • Name
    Enter a clear, specific name, such as Facebook Special Day 1 or Medicare Initial Visit.

  • Visible for Transactions
    Turn this on to make the preset searchable from the New Transaction screen.

  • Visible for Case Settings
    Turn this on to make the preset available when setting default services in a patient case.

  • Override Case Pricing
    Use this when the preset pricing and write-offs should override pricing already attached to the case.


Important Note About Write-Offs

Inline write-offs in Transaction Presets should only be used for cash cases. They should not be used for insurance contractual write-offs.


Where are Transaction Presets in ChiroHD

SOAP Note Screen

  1. Open the patient’s SOAP Note.

  2. Go to the charges area (if in Patient Chart, under Note Tab)

  3. Type in the preset name in the search field.

  4. Select the preset.

  5. The bundled services will populate.


Transaction Screen

  1. Open New Transaction.

  2. Type in the preset name in the search field.

  3. Select the preset.

  4. The services, inventory items, pricing, and write-offs will populate.


Case Defaults

  1. Open the Patient Profile, Case Tab.

  2. Go to Defaults Tab.

  3. Type the name of the preset in the add service field.

  4. Select the preset to add the bundled services as case defaults.


Examples Using Transaction Presets

Promotional Preset – "$21 New Patient Special"

  • Day 1: X-rays + Brief Exam

  • Day 2: Adjustment + Report of Findings (free)


Insurance Preset – “Medicare Services”

  • Medicare-eligible services

  • CMS-allowed pricing for compliance


Default Case Services – “Standard Insurance Patient”

  • Common services and codes used for insured patients

  • Applied automatically when setting up new patients


Troubleshooting Transaction Presets

  • Services must exist in your Services list before adding to a preset.

  • Updating service pricing? Manually update presets to reflect changes.

  • If a fee schedule is assigned to a patient or profile, it may override transaction presets. Remove the fee schedule and reapply the preset to ensure correct pricing.

  • Presets may appear inaccurate if:

    • Write-off settings were changed.

    • Shared environments caused unintended edits.

    • Services were modified after preset creation.
